InstructionIntroduction The introduction should provide a short summary of the student ( Charlie Thomas), giving basic background and demographic information about the case, as well as provide a rationale for the paper. This section should be 1 paragraph 1. Description of Data -What do you know about your student based upon these scores? (e.g., Is he/she intellectually gifted? In need of remediation or special education?) -What is the student’s ability? (Consider both verbal and non-verbal intelligence) -What is the student’s level of creativity? -What is the student’s achievement? (Consider both standardized tests—norm-referenced and criterion-referenced-- and report cards) -What is the student’s language level? 2. Analysis of Data -Are there differences in the student’s ability and achievement? -What explanations might explain these differences? (Think about language, special education status, motivation, etc.) If there are no differences, explain why the scores would be consistent across all measures. 3. Evaluation of the Sources of Data -Why might some assessments provide more valid interpretations than others? For example, would group or individually administered tests provide more valid results for your student? What about verbal verus non-verbal tests? 4. In your opinion, which of the test statistics (i.e., standardized score, percentile rank, age equivalent, raw score) is the most effective way to present the data? Why? Remember that all norm-referenced statistics (e.g., percentile rank, etc) provide the same information, but in a different format. Which do you prefer? 5. Educational Recommendations -What classroom setting(s) would be most appropriate for this student, based upon these data? For example, gifted and talented services, special education resources, etc. - How will you adjust your classroom instruction for this student? Be specific here and provide concrete examples. 6. Conclusions All well-written papers include a conclusion. In this section, you should provide closing remarks to summarize your paper. You should briefly review the sections of your paper in summary.
