Instruction
In outline format develop a classroom management plan related to your instructional area that addresses
each of these three types of instruction:
• Direct instruction (teacher directing the learning activities with the class as a whole
group)
• Cooperative work (students independently working in pairs or small groups)
• Assignments (students working alone)
Include each of the following components in your classroom management plan for each
type of instruction:
1. At least one goal for classroom behavior (Use a different goal for each type of
instruction.)
2. At least one rule that supports the goals (State a different rule for each goal.)
a. At least one consequence per rule (Use a different consequence for each rule.)
b. At least one reinforcement per rule (Use a different reinforcement for each rule.)
C. Write an essay (suggested length of 1–2 pages) to explain components of reinforcement
systems you will use for both individuals and groups of students.
1. Explain at least two positive reinforcement principles or techniques you will
incorporate with individual students to yield appropriate academic behaviors or for
following classroom rules.
2. Explain at least two positive reinforcement principles or techniques you will
incorporate with groups of students to yield appropriate academic behaviors or for
following classroom rules.
D. Write an essay (suggested length of 2–3 pages) to explain how teacher
expectations influence student academic performance. In this essay you must:
1. Identify the grade level and/or subject area of the students for whom these
expectations are intended.
2. Describe five expectations that would positively influence student academic
achievement. These expectations might address such areas as completing
work to earn passing scores, or communicating positively with others in group
or partner work to complete cooperative assignments.
