In this team discussion, you will practice the research techniques discussed in the M2.2 module notes in order to gain experience finding high-quality sources in the Excelsior Library and online. You will also compare the value of these two ways of searching. Step 1: Identify a topic that you would enjoy researching. This can be a topic from your work, your college major, or just something that you find interesting. It should be a topic that has been studied by academic researchers. Otherwise, the library might not have any resources on it. Step 2: Using the research strategies covered in this module, find at least one source in the Excelsior library and one from the internet for each of the following: Sources that would be most useful in the early stages of the research process. Sources that would be most useful in the later stages of the research process. You should find four sources in total. Step 3: In an initial post, list the author and title of each source you selected (including a permalink to the library or the URL for a web source) and explain why you think it would be useful at the stage in the research process for which you selected it. Also provide a short 100-200 word reflection on your experiences researching sources in the library and on the internet. How useful did you find each of these search approaches for your assignment in this discussion? What similarities and differences did you notice between them? How would you use each of these approaches in the future? Step 4: Reply to the posts of at least two of your team members. In your replies, provide your own thoughts on the sources they selected and the reasons they provided for selecting the sources they did. You may also comment on how your experiences using the library and internet were similar or different from theirs.
