Urban U.S. locations like Chicago, Illinois and Detroit, Michigan, offer many great site and situation factors that draw businesses there. However, in one of these cases, the city is thriving, while the other is struggling just to survive.
Research two cities in your area, one that is thriving and one that is struggling, and in approximately 250 words, compare and contrast the site and situation factors. If it is not readily apparent, speculate on the reasons that one is thriving while the other is not.
Use at least four of the site and situation factors from the text to frame your response.
Situational factors:
Proximity to markets
Proximity to inputs
Proximity to transportation
Site factors:
Labor
Land
Capital
The project includes an analysis of two cities that meet the criteria for this assignment. The overview provides enough detail for a reader to determine why these are appropriate selections for analysis.
The paper has an effective comparison and contrast to the SITUATIONAL FACTORS that contribute the similarities and differences of the two cities. (An excellent discussion will include examples and incorporate material from the course.)
