First, read the 2025 article by Jill Barshay, "University students offload critical thinking, other hard work to AI.Links to an external site." According to the article, learning should be difficult, as the process of learning involves critical thinking about data and concepts, and that using AI undercuts those processes. Prompt: Consider why so many students are choosing to cheat their way to a college degree. You should discuss whether or not you agree with the author and why. You are not arguing about the topic of AI use; you are discussing whether or not you agree with the author / article itself. Your essay must include an introduction with a thesis, multiple body paragraphs with evidence and explanation, and a conclusion. If you want, you can use 1st person POV (I, we, my, our). Never use 2nd person (you or your) in your academic writing. Your essay should be 500 words minimum and should quote / cite from the article in each body paragraph. In addition, your essay must be formatted according to MLA guidelines. Use the margins already in your essay. Before you do anything, set your document to double space. In the upper right corner, create a header with your last name and the page number. In the upper left corner, include your name, my name, the course, and the date of submission. This information is not a header. After the essay information, press enter once (do not include extra spaces), and include the title of your essay, which should be centered. Press enter once again, and press the tab button to indent the first line of the paragraph. Do not include any extra spaces anywhere. Each paragraph should be indented.
