This paper is step 3 toward the final immersion project. The goal of this paper is to apply the principles of Best Practice to a problem or opportunity for improvement in your workplace. Now that you have identified root causes for your case study, the next step in your immersion project is to identify corrective interventions. This assignment requires you to research evidence-based practices that could be implemented as a solution to the problem or root cause you have discovered. Make sure to focus on effective interventions that are backed by research to address your topic, not just information about the topic or issue. Explore the literature (journal articles, healthcare organizations such as IOM and ANA) to find interventions that are supported by research - these are evidence based practices. For example, if you identified "multiple distractions" as your root cause for a mediation error, you would want to find literature that supports an intervention that increases medication preparation safety, such as a "quiet med room space", or a "do not interrupt zone". You are looking for research articles and literature to find best practices that support your idea. Guidelines Present the issue, the root cause that you are trying to address and the suggested intervention. 2-3 paragraphs. Present the evidence (literature) that your chosen intervention will be an effective solution. This will be the bulk of your paper, 1-2 pages. Present a plan for implementing this intervention/change in practice at your workplace. 1-2 paragraphs. APA format with a title page. Maximum 4 pages in length (excluding title and reference pages). This paper will automatically be submitted to Turnitin. Minimum 3 references, 1 should be a peer reviewed journal article. Review the rubric prior to submission.
