Given: With advances in science and technology, we now face issues today which did not exist years ago. For example, science aided in developing the engine, the automobile, and CFCs. At the time, deleterious effects were not necessarily known. However, issues such as ozone depletion have now arisen and must be addressed. Task: In an essay (suggested length of 2–3 pages), demonstrate how science can be used to help make informed decisions about societal and global issues. In your essay: A. Identify and describe an issue that is both societal and global. B. Discuss how science has been involved in the development of this issue. C. Discuss what science is currently doing to address this issue at both the societal and the global level. D. Explain how science can be used to help make informed societal and global decisions about this issue. E. Predict the directions that science can or may take in the future to help with this issue. F. If you choose to use outside sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.
