Journal Article Review: Choose one article from a primary scientific literature source which uses a microbe as a model organism/ system and write comprehensive summary of the study that answers the following questions. (Many articles can be found from www.pubmed.gov)
A. Why did the scientists perform the study (i.e. description of background)?
B. What was the hypothesis (or hypotheses) under investigation?
C. What were the major results and did they support or negate the hypothesis? Which key techniques were used to achieve these results?
D. Why are the results significant and do they point to further/future studies? In other words, why does this article matter and what should or could be done next?
E. Why did you choose this particular article to review? Was it interesting, informative, clearly written, or non of the above?

2. At least one source
3. Type each question in Bold and type your answers in regular font. Each question must be followed by your response to that question.
4. No minimum pages required, but response must be clearly and well answered.
A. Student developed a clearly-written central theme or idea with a strong introduction to the study. Student understands and communicates a grasp the scientific inquiry presented in the journal.
B. Hypothesis is clearly and accurately identified.
C. Student states major points clearly supported by specific details and examples.
D. Student links results to relevant examples of current experiences and knowledge; uses an organized, analytical approach, demonstrating use of
critical thinking skills.
E. Gives opinion of article using personal reflection, and supports opinion with clearly expressed specific examples.
