The videos also serve to highlight the prevalence of violence in our society and culture.
Question: Do you think that violence is inculcated into Americans through culture and the ideology of “freedom” and the National narrative of violent defiance and resistance that it has come to be perceived as viable not so deviant means to solve both social and individual problems as pointed out in the 2nd video? More importantly what elements in the social environment, in your opinion, do you think keeps the majority of persons from becoming violent? Is this reflected in any of the theories discussed in the textbook? Try to include your own perspective and one example of something that could hypothetically make a person such as yourself violently angry; also include in your discussion what would sociologically prevent that same person to not resort to violence? In addition, explain which technique(s) of neutralization could you reasonably apply to declare your action/behavior as ono-deviant?
