Health Disparity research paper

Each student will research a healthcare disparity of their choosing as it applies to a particular racial/ethnic group, underserved population, or health care issue that results in a health disparity. A list of suggested proposed topics is listed in the Discussion Board #4: Select Your Research Topic Here forum. You may consider a topic not on the example list that you wish to learn more about or in the alternative; a topic that you feel is not being addressed as aggressively as it should be. You will select your topic online during the Discussion Board #4: Select Your Research Topic Here forum. Writing is not only an essential means of communication, but an essential learning tool as well, allowing you to develop your thoughts logically and present your understanding of the chosen topic. Your paper will be written in an academic style. Academic writing is also formal writing. That means you should avoid informal language, slang and jargon, and you should avoid the use of contractions. Write with your audience in mind. For an academic paper, your intended audience might include the professor and other students. Remember that you are trying to demonstrate your understanding of the content covered in this course, the correlating scholarly literature, and your ability to write a convincing argument. Make sure that the style you use is appropriate to the purpose of the paper. It is wise to begin research on your paper early in the term. You cannot expect to write a good research paper in one sitting. Papers always need to be revised several times. It often helps to read the paper aloud as you revise the paper. You may also take your paper to MSU Denver’s Writing Center for expert advice. Be specific! Your topic must address a specific health/healthcare disparity among a particular racial/ethnic group, underserved population, or health care issue that results(ed) in a health disparity. At minimum, your paper should include the following sections. Please include section headers for each required item in your paper. Introduction with thesis statement Description of the problem Historical data with explanation of the problem Your recommendations for solving the problem Conclusion The paper should be 8-10 pages in length (excluding the reference page, tables and figures), on any subject area within context of health disparities. This is a particularly good opportunity for you to explore an area that are curious about or would like to research at a deeper level than time allows for during this course. All papers submitted shall be double spaced, of the specified length, times new roman, twelve (12) point font. Do not add extra lines between paragraphs. Your name must be included or I will not accept the paper. It is expected you will utilize external sources to help guide you in completing this final deliverable and to support your personal opinions or statements. You must use between 4-6 references. You will not receive credit for any references over 6, but you will lose points for any under 4. You must cite in the body of your paper per APA guidelines where appropriate.
