1. A Code of Ethics for Curators outlines the responsibilities, values, and ethical obligations of a curator. Based on the two other readings this week, do you feel that there are any areas of the code that should be updated or expanded? Did either reading address "gray areas" within curatorial practice that may allow for too much interpretation? 2. Providing public access to collections is a pillar of museum ethical standards. By loaning objects long-term and demanding heafty loan fees, are museums like the Louvre and the Guggenheim violating this guideline? 3. According to the guidelines in A Code of Ethics for Curators, curators have a responsibility to interpret objects for their exhibitions. Based on the exhibitions examined, did these curators fulfill their responsibility, or did they fall short? Do you feel there was a curatorial approach to the display of "difficult knowledge," that was more successful than the others? Why?
