In 7 pages The TIMSS study began a comparison of educational achievement across countries. Since then, other assessments have been developed that are used in other nations to compare the performance of students within a country or with other countries. Through supporters and detractors, we have come to learn about performance from reports and research from other countries. In addition, educators have argued that both summative and formative assessments should be used in schools. Nations across the globe are reviewing the purpose of their schools, their standards, and their assessments. Can we learn lessons from these studies and from other nations that would help us build a better, balanced assessment system?

( I attached TIMSS pdf) 1.Advantages and Disadvantages of the TIMSS ( 1 page is why is good and 1 page why is not good)  -Review the TIMSS study or another national assessment and scholarly articles written about it. Based on your readings, what are two advantages and disadvantages regarding information it provides to the world? (2 pages) 2. Participation in the TIMMs or other Standardized Assessments across Your Country -Should your country ( USA) be part of any organized national/international study? Why or why not? (2 pages) 3. Balanced Assessment -How would the presence or absence of the TIMSS/other standardized assessment contribute to a balanced assessment of your school/district/country? (1 page) After an introductory paragraph, organize this assignment using the three headings provided. Use at least three research studies, and two scholarly articles not listed in your syllabus to research the topic. All papers should conform to APA.
