Assignment 1: LASA 1—RTI Toolkit
An educational toolkit is a collection of tips, pointers, articles, examples, electronic links, and other resources an educator gathers over time that addresses specific issues or topics. Much like a graphic organizer, the kit is usually constructed around concepts or specific subelements of the issue. The groupings established are specific to the individual educator and are meant to organize materials, samples, ideas, etc. in a manner that would make retrieval of the information easy. A toolkit is generally created, reviewed, and updated over time as the educator locates additional or more current information or applications.
This assignment requires you to create and present a comprehensive collection of resources for an RTI toolkit to be used in the classroom of the general education teacher.
Resources in this RTI toolkit may include:
Articles
Web sites
Links to policy, laws, and regulations
Links to instructional strategies
Diagrams (with explanations) of the three-tier model
Parent engagement in the RTI process
Sites currently utilizing the RTI process
Links to behavioral strategies in the RTI process
This resource packet needs to be for either elementary or secondary levels.
Additionally, you will develop a presentation on your toolkit consisting of the following elements:
Cover page
Overview of the RTI three-tier model (what it is and how it is used in the classroom)
Policy mandates
Supporting research or case studies
Differentiated instructional strategies
Selected sites currently utilizing the RTI process
Parent engagement in the RTI process
Self-reflection on the RTI process
For the numbered items 3 through 7 in the list above.
