Technology and Information
Introduction and Alignment
Analyzing data can be done manually, but efficiency dictates the use of technology. This assignment will provide you with an opportunity to use technology to review and summarize raw data and to identify data patterns to incorporate into the planning stage of a depression treatment program.
Upon completion of this assignment, you should be able to:
• Describe how technology can assist in organizing data for analysis.
Resources
• Textbook: Conducting Needs Assessments: A Multidisciplinary Approach
• File: Depression Program.xlsx
• Article: Data Analysis and Interpretation
Instructions
1. Read the article, “Data Analysis and Interpretation,” at http://www.visionlearning.com/en/library/Process-of-Science/49/Data-Analysis-and-Interpretation/154.
2. Download the Depression Program.xlsx file.
3. Respond to the following prompts:
a. In a one-page (250-word) paper, use the information in Tab 1 of the Excel spreadsheet to explain the meaning of the numbers and bar charts and how this data would be helpful if you were to use it to plan for a depression program.
b. Using the information in Tab 2 of the Excel spreadsheet, identify patterns from the comments that would assist you in planning for a depression program.
i. You must have at least three patterns, but no more than five.
ii. After titling your Patterns columns, color code the comments that fall within those patterns.
Each pattern column is already color coded.
Use the same colors to color-code your comments that are in column A.
There are cells below each Pattern column with the word Format.
Use the Format Paintbrush (Home, Clipboard) from those cells to color code your comments in the A column.
c. In a one-page (250-word) report, use the information you have analyzed to make recommendations for a program plan that treats depression.
