35% of women will suffer from emotional abuse from a spouse or significant other. Evidence suggest that psychological distress last long after emotional abuse. (Reed, & Enright 2006). The study looked at how emotional abuse affected women in a long-term scenario. Depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, lack of self-esteem was some of the aspects looked at in the abused after two years away from the abuser. Forgiveness therapy was used, and an Alternative therapy and the results were determined to find that forgiveness therapy was the better therapy used to treat women and it was determined that the fared better when there was forgiveness for the abuser.
Emotional abuse is a noteworthy problem, this abuse has long lasting consequences for the abused person. This can be devastating as the betrayal of trust is significant and lead to a long-term psychological disorder. Emotional pain is devastating in so many ways depending on the person. Emotional abuse can consist of criticizing, ridiculing, jealous control, purposeful ignoring, threats of abandonment, threats of harm, damage to one’s personal property. Studies suggest that emotional abuse was found in 72% of those abused to be more damaging than psychical abuse.
Level One headings: Interaction, and Application
2. Develop a Summary of the main concepts from the article (at least one page). Do not duplicate the article’s abstract. If the article describes a research study, include brief statements about the hypotheses, methods, results, discussion, and implications. If any test measures or statistical methods used are given in the article, do not provide detailed descriptions of these. Short direct quotations from the article are acceptable but avoid long quotations in a paper this size. This section is the foundation of your Journal Article Review (at least a third of your paper). Make sure that you include the core points from the article, even if it means a longer section. Do not reference any additional articles in your summary.
3. In your own words, describe your Interaction (at least one page) with the article. Appropriate comments for this part of the paper should include, but are not limited to: your initial response to the article, comments regarding the study’s design or methodology (if any), insights you gained from reading the article, your reasons for being interested in this particular article, any other readings that you may plan to do based upon having read the article, and other thoughts you have that might further enhance the discussion of your article. Your subjective comments in this section must be clearly tied to main points from the article, not peripheral ideas. Again, do not reference any other article.
4. In your final section (at least one page) write a hypothetical Application utilizing the information you have learned from the article, to a particular addiction-related counseling situation. This could be in a church/ministry-based or clinical session. Develop this section as if your parishioner or client has come to you with a problem— either a chemical/substance abuse problem (e.g., alcohol, cocaine, heroin, etc.) or a process/behavioral addiction (e.g., pornography gambling, food. etc.)—and needs your help. Adequately describe the counseling scenario, including the presenting problem. Draw out concepts from the article and apply the concepts to the scenario as if you were guided only by the content of the article. Show the reader how you are expressly drawing from the journal article in this application section; be sure to cite correctly in current APA format.
