This is what contributes to high infant mortality rates. High infant mortality rates, contribute to high fertility rates. High fertility rates contribute to exploding populations. What is the UV Light Water Purification Center and what results have they had? (i.e., who maintains it? How many people benefit? What is the cost?) Bottling water to sell for profits is also a form of privatization. How well regulated/tested are bottled waters in the US? What did the people do? Were they successful? What were the problems with Coke’s factory in Plachimada? What did the people of Plachimada do to solve this issue? Were they successful? In what ways are local peoples and communities around the world dealing with these issues? Do you think they will be successful? Why/why not? Critical Thinking Questions: Do you think the information in this video may be one sided or biased? What information might be missing? What questions would you ask about this topic to critically examine it from all sides? Do you think it is a human right to have access to water or do you think water is something that should be owned/controlled/bought and sold? Support your answer.
