Chapter 3 Are you ready to get started? Chapter 3 deals with the importance of management ethics and social responsibility. With all the recent scandals in the business world this is always a hot topic. Some would say that the guiding force of a companies ethical behavior is it's mission statement. Sometimes these are referred to as a values statement or guiding principles. This weeks Assignment: 1. Search the web for company mission statements. 2. Find one that you like and identify the company and post its mission statement in the discussion box. 3. Critique the mission statement. From the information in the text does it fulfill its purpose? What changes would you make if you were in charge of writing mission statements? 4. Does your company have a mission statement? If so do you feel they live up to it? 5. Finally what is your personal feelings about business ethics and management? Think of or research some of the most prominent business ethic failures in the last few years. What could top management done to prevent these scandals? Can ethics really be trained? Finally just a reminder before you get started that the typical response that receives full credit is about 600 words in length.
