Assignment Overview This first assignment has multiple steps: 1.The paper needs to be turned in here and to the Writing Center. 2.To turn your paper into the Writing Center: Click on the "Writing Center" tab on the left-hand side of your Canvas toolbar. Follow the instructions to "Submit My Writing," and choose two areas where you think you may need the most help. 3.Review your report from the writing center. You should receive the report within 24 hours. Revise your paper based on the suggestions of your reviewer. 4.Save your report. You will need to upload it with your revision at the end of week 4. 5.Re-edit your assignment incorporating the suggestions and your final edits. Resubmit your assignment at the end of week 4 with your writing center report (attach two documents). You will receive your grade after you submit your final version. The rubric is included in the assignment details for reference. Assignment Instructions Instructions for the assignment content are: 1.Describe the origins of mindfulness as a practice. 2.Compare and contrast at least two religious or philosophical traditions from which mindfulness as a practice was born. 3.Describe the current thought leaders you identify with most regarding your perspective of what mindfulness is and explain how you can apply to your professional and personal lives 4.In order to develop a personal plan to integrate mindfulness practices every day, explain one technique of mindfulness you will apply to your professional life and one technique that you will apply to your personal life. 5.Include specifics from a variety of course materials to support your analysis. Mechanics This assignment is to be submitted as an academic essay with appropriate references and citations. Writing should include logical organization of major points and structure. Sentences should be complete, clear and concise. Add a title page, introduction and conclusion. Analysis needs to be supported with the course materials. Adhere to Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) guidelines for all references and citations. The assignment should be 750-1,000 words (3-4 pages), typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font, 1" margins. This assignment is worth 15% of the course grade.
