Your task is to review several Internet news sites (i.e. Foxnews.com, CNN.com, MSNBC.com, etc.) and find recent articles that discuss topics related to the fields of medicine and/or health science. As you read through the articles, choose one that is of particular interest to you and start a discussion thread on it. You will need to briefly summarize the article, explain what your thoughts/opinions are, and pose at least 2 thought provoking questions to which your classmates may respond. (The questions cannot be “yes” or “no” answer questions.) Finally, be sure to include the reference or article so that students may visit the website and read the article, should they so desire. In addition to the discussion described above, you will also need to respond to at least of your classmates’ discussion threads. Thoughtful, insightful, and careful postings will earn you full credit for this portion of the course. Clear evidence of critical thinking will also be required. Simple “yes”, “you’re wrong”, or “I agree” type responses will not receive full credit. In reviewing your discussion postings, I will be looking for: 1.Thoughtful consideration of the topic at hand. 2.Evidence of critical thinking. 3.Proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. 4.Respect towards others ideas and beliefs. 5.Academically sound language...no slang, obscenities. 6.Insightful commentary in general.
