Also in one paragraph tell me your opinion about:
When looking at Dali's painting, to me it looks like he's saying how over time his memory slows, becomes weak, and melts away into nothingness. There is definitely a feeling of gloom when looking at it for the first time. Even the color scheme of the painting seems a little sad with the blues and browns. Blue is typically associated with depression, so maybe this artwork reflects the artist's feelings of depression as his memory decreases over time. The fact that it seems to take place in a desert looking scenery suggests to me that time and memory are becoming desolate.
Gauguin's painting on the other hand is the complete opposite. You have brighter colors of purples, and some tints of red that reflect romanticism to me, but there's also a hint of haunting in this painting. The naked lady on the bed has a look of longing, despite the fact that originally she's suppose to look scared. Which I would be if I had a creepy looking guy in background of my bedroom. Even though to me she has a look of sexual intention in her face and body language, it's interesting to me that the title of the painting is "The Spirit of the Dead Keep Watching" which suggest to me that no matter what activity we participate in, even romantic activities, the dead are always watching. Very haunting and creepy.
