Writing Descriptively – 70 pts Length Minimum 700 words or 2 Pages Double Spaced For this essay, I would like you to write descriptively. You my either write an expository essay or a fictional story. Below are some choices for your writing. DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY – For this assignment you are going to create and essay with a strong introduction, supporting body and conclusion. There are several types of descriptive essays. Below are some examples: • PLACE ESSAYS – In this essay you are describing what it is like to live or visit a certain area. What would someone hear, see, smell, taste, or touch? How can you take the reader around the area? This place could be somewhere you have been or somewhere you make up. The main idea is to make sure you describe what the reader needs to imagine the place. • PEOPLE ESSAYS – Maybe you want to describe a specific person. What does he or she look like? How us he or she important to you? Why does the reader need to learn about this person? Your choice could be someone you personally know or a celebrity who you know a lot about. • OBJECT ESSAY - For this essay you are going to focus on something tangible. Do you have a special memento or object that means something to you? Maybe it is toy from childhood or a piece of jewelry given to you some someone special. Whatever you select, describe the item, its importance, and what the reader can learn from your experience. • MEMORY ESSAY – This is going to be similar to essays we have already composed, but you are more than welcome to describe a time in your life. What happened and how did it affect you? Please select a new experience to write about. SHORT STORY – For this assignment you need to create a story with a strong beginning, descriptive middle and an interesting conclusion. Make sure you use descriptive language in your writing. Characters need to be fully described, conflicts need to be developed and resolved, and the setting needs to be identified.
