Instruction
For this assignment, you are to envision yourself giving a presentation using PowerPoint to the reader or readers of your proposal. They are the people who have the power to make a decision on your proposed idea.
As you write your presentation and design your slides, try to see yourself speaking to those people. Assume they are familiar with the scenario you are addressing but they have a lot of questions. They will be persuaded if your ideas are good and you are able to anticipate and answer their questions in your presentation. Also assume they asked you to come in to deliver a presentation. Obviously, if you addressed only one person in your report, you can assume that that person would invite interested others to watch your presentation.
Your slides should be narrated and you should use Assertion-Evidence Slide Structure to design your slides. Assertion-evidence can be challenging and it is more suited to longer presentations with more complex ideas, but the principles of Assertion-Evidence Slide Structure apply well to a range of presentations and visual design practices. Remember to make a full-sentence claim in the title and to avoid overwhelming the listener with images and text. Page 584 has an example of slides designed in the Assertion-Evidence Slide Structure.
Here is a video explaining Assertion-Evidence or Claim-and-Support slide structure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNW84FUe0ZA
Here is a lot more stuff than you need to know about PPT slide design from the same guy: http://www.robertyale.com/powerpoint-presentation-design/
Your presentation should only be about five minutes in length and only about five slides, although the number of slides can obviously vary depending on the topic.
