Minorities of America tend to be left with inferior access to services offered in the country. In this paper I will discuss the issues that Latina women face in receiving healthcare, as well as discuss modern feminist issues within the women’s healthcare. Latina women are facing a large issue pertaining to their healthcare. To begin, Latina women are now the largest minority in need of women’s healthcare. Whereas, all clinics require their staff be bilingual in bth English and Spanish, there are still many biases being held against the women. Doctors have been reported to empathize specifically with Latina women who come from heteronormative backgrounds, in relationships the doctors don’t consider “deviant”. This bias leaves the other women who are perhaps younger, or have relations with more than one partner, as being given inferior healthcare. Doctors regard these women as deviant, and establish what they feel to be normative behavior. These doctors are in a way are attempting to establish for Latina women what should be the norm. The doctors aren’t allowing the women to be free to make the choices they wish to make. The doctors also were found when treating women of a Latina heritage who is pregnant, outside of a relationship the doctors qualify as normative, or they wish to abort the doctors would treat them with disdain. Although the healthcare is provided for the Latina women, these stereotypes and racial aspects to treatment, are issues that must seise to exist. Women of all backgrounds are entitled to equal healthcare. If doctors were to be rebuked for their biased treatment perhaps these issues wouldn’t remain any longer. Education of culture, is also a key component to almost any racial or stereotypical behavior, by promoting and teaching proper cultural information doctors might find their patients race and background to not play a factor in treatment for these women. A massive issue that prevails in the world of women’s healthcare, is an issue that is broader than issues pertaining to specific race or cultures. This issue pertains to all women of all

background, as well as many issues that are relevant within out healthcare systems. Hospitals have begun to use women’s health centers as a business opportunity primarily, before prioritizing the client. Hospitals have started using labor and delivery as mean to a business end. Hospitals have begun to use marketing as a means to draw patients in, this is a massive issue because more doctors are requiring more expensive insurance or accept no insurance at all. This is a huge dilemma because not everyone has access to these doctors and treatments. Viewing women as business opportunities disrespects women tremendously. Women are more than simply a paycheck. Healthcare to less fortunate women, is inferior treatment. Another tremendous issue is with women’s healthcare, is that the system is conjuring with mainstream media perspectives on women. The promotion of women through media is generally through a sexualized lens and aims to exploit women, this too is altering women receiving good medical care. Because of this female patients might be seen as less that male clients, and may receive inferior coverage and care. Doctors and healthcare providers must become more mindful about how they treat their patients, women deserve equal healthcare to male patients, race and ethnicity should not be regarded as a quality to determine healthcare. What strikes me as the largest issue in women’s healthcare, is the lack of accessibility for free birth control. Men can receive condoms for free from almost anywhere, whereas women must pay insurance or pharmacies large amounts of money for birth control. These issues do not seize to end there, another tremendous issue I see is taxation for women hygienic care. Menstrual care is very expensive, and on top of the price for the products taxes are placed on these essential items. Women do not get to choose if they get their periods, menstural taxation and high fees is a massive issue in women’s healthcare.
