After watching the documentary, Landmarks of Western Art Episode 3 – The Baroque (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=170QMNMQFHg), and reading Chapter 23 (“Seventeenth-Century Art in Europe”) in the textbook, define the characteristics of the Baroque in all of its manifestations, from those of Italian origin to those of the Netherlands, along discussing its unique and distinct qualities from the periods we have already seen this semester. Within your paper, use contemporary historical events as evidence to your ideas. • Find corroborating examples in architecture, sculpture, and painting that reinforce your presented thesis. The examples must be from these geographical locations: Italy, France, Spain, Flanders, and The Netherlands. These may be culled from your textbook, the video, or the internet, but they must be used within the body of your essay as reinforcing illustrations to your conclusions. Please insert these into your work with appropriate captioning, including title of work, artist if applicable, and date of creation • A bibliography is a must. Please use MLA format.
