Instruction
Primary sources are documents created in the historical time period, by participants or observers living in that time period. Typical primary sources are letters, diaries, speeches, government documents, photos, artwork, etc. For each Primary Source Paper, you are asked to identify 1-3 primary sources on a topic in U.S. history that interests you and write a brief, 1000-1500 word essay (roughly 3-4 pages, but check “Word Count”), in which you use the primary source/s as evidence for your own original argument/observation/claim about the topic.
