Instruction
Your final essay should include four main components:
• Title Page
• Abstract
• Main Body
• References
I) TITLE PAGE
• Title of paper
• Your name
• EM 525
• Date of completion
II) ABSTRACT
On a separate page, your abstract should:
• be 200 - 250 words long
• give brief background information and introduce the topic
• explain why this is an important topic and how it is related to disaster recovery
• include thesis statement and/or policy recommendations
Below the abstract, supply 3 to 5 KEYWORDS that are
• specific
• not in the title
• representative of the content of the essay
III) MAIN BODY
The organization of the paper will vary given your specific topic and research design but it is highly recommended that you use headings and subheadings to clarify content.
The text should follow these formatting guidelines:
• have 1 inch margins
• in 12-point font, Times New Roman or Times
• double-spaced, 15 to 20 pages long, not including title page, abstract, and references
IV) REFERENCES
You must cite sources appropriately and be consistent with the style that you are using (APA Citation Style is recommended).
Sources cited in the text should appear in the reference list and vice versa.
The references list must:
• include at least 5 peer-reviewed journal articles
• exclude random .coms, .nets, and etc., that are not credible online sources. The use of Wikipedia in general is highly discouraged. Newspaper articles, government documents, and other types of publications may be included, but will not count toward the minimum requirement of 5 scholarly journal articles
