Even though most speech and entertainment content is protected by the First Amendment, the media and telecommunications industries face heavy regulation, from copyright and trademarks to privacy and antitrust regulation. This should come as no surprise since these industries affect every aspect of our lives. Make sure you complete both parts of the assignment and number your answers.
Part 1: Go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation website: eff.org and select "Issues" from the drop-down menu. Choose TWO issues you are interested in: creativity, free speech, international, privacy, security, transparency, or face surveillance.
For EACH issue, select one specific article, blog post, press release, etc. and answer the following questions:
1. Which issue did you select?
A. What is the specific article about? Summarize the key facts and/or controversy.
B. What is the EFF's position on this issue?
C. Do you agree? Why or why not?
D. Include a proper citation and link to the article.
2. Which issue did you select?

Part 2: Go to the the website of the International Telecommunications Union, World Intellectual Property Organization, European Union, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Trade Commission, or another international or domestic regulatory agency (does not have to be in the United States) and find a current issue related to a topic or industry from this semester (spectrum management, standard setting, broadcasting, Internet, telephones, antitrust law, ownership, free speech, privacy, e-commerce, location tracking, surveillance, encryption, etc.). Make sure the issue is related to media or telecommunications or one of the industries we have discussed this semester.
3. Which organization did you choose?
A. Summarize the issue.
B. How might it impact your life?
C. How would you solve the issue?
D. Include a proper citation and link to the article or webpage.
