Choose ONE of the leaders from the Law and Government unit of study. And select ONE social issue to address - perhaps poverty or inequality in education. Write a short paper describing why the social issue is important to address and how your selected leader would go about trying to fix it. Include a quotation from the leader's reading in our text. Conclude with your assessment of whether or not the leader's way of governing would effectively solve the problem. The rubric is attached but your paper won't be graded on all the responsibilities associated with the "group" section. I'll check your paper with my description in mind as I explained what you should do.

Organize a group presentation around the practical and moral obligations of good governance in addressing social issues with which the group is most familiar, such as poverty, racism, inequality of opportunity in housing or education, discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, gender or religion, or more trending issues like excessive force by law enforcement, illegal immigration, "Dreamers," voting rights restrictions, gun control, poll challenges/intimidation, census citizenship question, etc. Each member of the group will refer to a different reading in the unit to assess specific ways their leader would juggle practical and moral solutions to address the social issue under consideration.
