The choice is to do the Spring season, song, piece, (link below) The recording of Sonic Seasonings by Wendy Carlos is available as streaming media links below. Choose and listen to one of the seasons, (SPRING) and write a review/analysis of the piece. Think about it carefully. What elements do you hear? How has the composer integrated electronic sound with the natural sounds? Is there a melodic and harmonic content? What is the importance of timbre and sonic content? How are ideas developed? What about form and structure? ETC. It is through the careful analysis of the works of other composers that we can learn the most about compositional techniques. Regardless of the style or genre of the piece, there is always something to be learned. Putting your thoughts and observations into a carefully written review/analysis is an effective method for discovery and enlightenment.
