QUESTION: What were the most significant contributions that women made to the development of New France?
Research Portfolio project, you will mobilize your historical research skills in order to answer a historical question of your own design. Your will do this by analyzing four secondary sources and one primary source. Your portfolio will be made up of three parts, that together will total approximately seven pages plus a bibliography (not including the space taken up by footnotes).
It looks like this:
• Part 1: Introduction. This is a one-page introduction that tells your reader what your topic is, what your question is, and what your answer to that question is in the form of a clear thesis- statement.
• Part 2: Evidence. Here, you will write five, one-page analyses (one per source) that each explain how that particular source supports your thesis-statement. If your one-page analyses are a little longer than one page, that is not a problem. Analyses that are substantially shorter than one full page will be penalized. Regular rules regarding citations apply. Part 2 should end with a short conclusion (half a page) that summarizes your evidence in a persuasive way.
• Part 3: Bibliography. List your sources according to Chicago style. Remember that Chicago uses different formatting for footnotes/endnotes and the bibliography.
