InstructionPart 1 Below is your discussion opener for this week. For each reading assignment, you must respond to the discussion opener thread (there may be more than one discussion opener to respond to on the same date) before 11:59 pm of the due date for the assignment. To respond to the discussion, click reply. In order to receive credit for your responses, you must post them on or before the designated due date(s) and time AND you must meet the minimum length for your initial response. In your initial response, you must respond to the question(s) I pose. You will not receive credit for off-topic entries. Your initial response to each thread should be between 125-150 words total, addressing the discussion question(s) and citing specific passages from the reading as evidence for your points. Initial response is due before 11:59 pm on WEDNESDAY. You should then compose at least 2 follow-up responses to other students' postings in each thread. Your follow-up responses to your classmates should consist of more than “I agree” or any version of “I agree.” Add something substantial to the conversation; do not simply parrot your classmates’ responses. Follow-up responses are due before 11:59 pm on Sunday. You should also respond to any follow-up questions directed at you by the instructor or fellow classmates. I suggest you compose your response in your word processing program, proofread it, save it, and then cut and paste it into the discussion board message. You will be graded on your participation in the discussion forum each week. NOTE: You will not be able to see your classmates' posts until after you have posted your initial response. Performing arts are art forms in which artists use their body or voice to convey artistic expression—as opposed to visual arts, in which artists use paint/canvas or various materials to create physical art objects. Examples are acting, singing and dancing. Other forms of the Performing Arts include opera, theatre, magic or illusion performances, circus, puppet show, street performance, mime, spoken word, recitation, and public speaking. Discussion 4 – Performing Arts Choose ONE performance based art that you enjoy. Describe the art form and why it’s significant to you. How did you become acquainted with this particular art? Have you ever seen a live performance? If so, when and where? Were you the one who was performing? Art is another way to communicate and relies more on an effort to move people emotionally. How did the performance make you feel? Why? Upload a SHORT media file of the art form or a photo/image. Examples are a few seconds of your favorite artist performing, a scene from a play, or a photo/video of you dancing /singing/speaking. Maybe you have a photo of a street performer or one from your visit to the circus. Explain what’s going on in the video/photo. Make sure your video/photo is appropriate to share with others! Respond to two of your classmates’ posts. Part 2 Upload a photo of the visual arts medium you wrote about in your Visual Arts Journal. Make sure you include the following information: Title of Work Artist's Name Date of Work Location Respond to two of your classmates' posts. Unlike the other discussion posts, your comments should be really brief with no more than a sentence or two expressing your thoughts on the artwork.
