Instruction
We are in a time of rapid growth for information, and technology that records everything. Your students are now being informed of current events through social media, digital platforms, and other Web 2.0 resources. They are bringing that information into the classroom and wanting answers and solutions.
For this assignment, you are to select a current global issue from an article that is based on race or culture, has technology collaboratively infused in the learning process and reflection of the lesson, and provides students opportunities to explore solutions to this global issue.
Create a lesson using the template provided for the grade level (Kindergarten) you are teaching that addresses the global issue from the article with a culturally competent response. In 500-750 words, answer the following:
1) How does this lesson create relevant learning experiences in the classroom that engages students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources?
2) How might personal biases or preconceived judgments be present regarding this global issue? Why is it important for teachers and students to be able to identify personal biases and the effect it has on learning and global citizenry?
3) How does this global issue affect the students, classroom culture, and school? What are opportunities to use this global issue as a way to create a more open and safe learning environment?
4) How does awareness of this global issue create relevant learning experiences that will affect your students in the classroom and inform their ethical decision-making?
For this assignment, you will submit your global issue article, your answers to the four questions above, and your lesson plan on a global issue as one deliverable.
While APA format is not required for this assignment, solid academic writing is expected and in-text citations and a reference page should be presented using APA documentation guidelines. An abstract is not required.
