Instruction
In a Word document, you will include the following:
1. The four quotes you highlighted in the Scott article with page numbers and a sentence or two paraphrasing each quote in your own words, noting why you thought the quote was interesting.
Remember page numbers go after the quote in parentheses (23). The final period comes after the page number, not after the quote! Here is the article : Joan Scott's Gender as Useful Category.pdf
After your 4 quotes, copy the below citation to cite the Scott article as an electronic source. Go to Owl at Purdue to see how to do this.
Scott, Joan Wallach. “Gender: Still a Useful Category of Analysis?” Diogenes, (225), 2010 Sage Publications, 2010, Los Angeles, New Delhi, and Singapore. ( http://dio.sagepub.com DOI: 10.1177/0392192110369316)
2. The four quotes you highlighted in the Adair text and then follow the same instructions as you did for the Scott article in #1—paraphrasing each quote and including citation. (The Adair is a book. So you would cite as a book using MLA. I have given you the needed citation information in the attached). Here is the article: Women and Dance by Christy Adair.pdf
3. Finally, write a 4-10 sentence paragraph reflecting the ideas you highlighted from both articles. This paragraph will help you practice your critical thinking skills. Please utilize paragraph form.
Here are some prompts you may use for the reflection paragraph (step 3):
Choose a couple of ideas or sentences from the reading and explain why they were significant to you.
Did you find any ideas that connect to anything you've thought or read about in the past or in any other class?
Were any of the ideas in the readings, ideas that reminded you of anything from your life experience?
What had you not realized before and want to learn more about? What questions are you left with?
