Instruction
From now on there will be 7 writing assignments until the end of semesters 12/20/2020. You will have about 2 weeks for each assignment (Writing essay/paragraphs) And some weeks might have to respond to my peers discussions. It will be a lot of reading from a book called “ The best American short stories” read then write. Your first assignment starts today and dues on September 21st. (If you finish before due date that would be cool!) If you are ok about work, let’s do it! I will send you more info.

Race?  And so forth.  You can select what to write about based on what you perceived as important.  You introduce the work and author and then make a claim about the story.  A topic sentence contains a subject and claim...something you can prove, about your subject. You will, therefore, then need quotes from the stories to support your claims.  I suggest three quotes per paragraph.  These quotes will support your claim and you will offer transitions between your points.  Lastly, in your conclusion, I suggest you offer a call to action or a few ideas on how to positively chance the situation you addressed.

Then on October 26th, I will open the exam. The exam period ends on October 28th at 11 PM. I am providing an hour, which is abut three times the amount of time needed. Don't push it and wait until the last minute...or you could. It's just a suggestion. It's up to you. The exam is 25 multiple-choice questions that focus on deep comprehension, literary terms, and is light on ideology. I could not handle another writing assignment and will need to do so for Lips Together, Teeth Apart, and the poetry assignment. And that is okay...

  • You answered all the questions using 44 minutes of the 50 minutes, so I am uncertain how you did not finish. The exam was one question at a time, and you were prohibited from backtracking as was mentioned in the directions. I looked over your exam and all questions were answered; therefore, the exam closes after the last answer. Did watch the film more than once and take notes? Did you have your notes with you while you took the exam? You did not score well. I will be providing a curve, but I do not allow extra credit or retaking an exam. I would need to open that up to everyone. In addition, many students earned scores of 90 and above, so I know this was a fair exam.
