Introduction:
This assignment will require you to read five news stories about a particular incident. Then, you will answer four questions about (a) how the news stories framed that incident, (b) why you believe the journalists framed it that way, (c) what you think the implications of those depictions might be, and (d) whether or not one or more of the stories meet your definition of "journalism." The specific questions may be accessed using the Google Assignment link below.
This assignment draws on the Learning Materials from Weeks 2-4. Your scores will depend on the thoroughness and clarity of your descriptions, the thoughtfulness of your arguments, and the effectiveness of the integration of the ideas, concepts, and theories we've covered in the class. When making connections to course material, please make the connections explicit (e.g., "According to X theory, ...").
