Management Case 1 Information As you can see this case is about UPS and Jovita Carranza (a real person) and will be completed in APA format. Please familiarize yourself with APA format by speaking with a librarian if necessary. You are not required to complete the Abstract portion of the case and only the body of the case is counted in the 2-4 pages required for this case. Please choose a topic and go to the Credo Database (in the Learning Commons Library Services section) and find a definition for your topic. Your definition should be no more than 2 sentences and, if you wish, can be in quotations. This first paragraph should be short and only introduce your topic. If you look at the case, you will see that there are several suggestions for topics. For example, one topic is training and development. Use Credo only for the definition only—nothing else. Please properly cite your definition as well. The citation is not Credo but, for example, the Merriam Webster Dictionary. The next section of the case should discuss the topic which was defined in the opening—the topic you chose out of the list of suggestions given in the case. Discuss that topic in relationship to UPS. This should be the bulk of your case study. Find at least two articles of 3-10 pages from the college databases on your topic in which at least one should include UPS and your topic. The other article can just be on your topic if you wish. It will be easier, however, to make the case “flow” if you use UPS and your chosen topic together in both articles. Please do not make this an article by article summary as that is not a case study! Look for topics that are similar in two or three of your articles and discuss the articles in a topic by topic format. At the end, please tie in Jovita. If you wish you can Google her (only time I will allow the use of Google)! You will find she has not been at UPS for quite a while and has won many awards and become quite famous. Please find an article on Jovita as well from the college databases and tie that into your information about Jovita at the end of your case. If the information in the article is not 3-10- pages and 3 pages are not about Jovita herself, please find another article of that length on your topic and your topic and UPS. This will assure that you have the minimum three articles of 3-10 pages. Please make sure your reference page is in APA format with permalinks so I can easily find the articles. I read the articles first, then read your paper. You will also include 10 talking points you would have used if this were not an asynchronous class (and no COVID) for a group discussion. Please make sure the things you choose for the talking points things that are actually in your paper and in your articles. They do not have to be full sentences but bullets of information. If someone did not have your paper and just looked at the bullet points, this person would be able to understand what your case is about and the key points included in your case. Talking points are often used at four-year schools as well. If you do not know how to use the college databases, please contact a librarian right away. All of your case information must come from the college databases. Use only articles and do not use Academic Journals or Vital Speeches as a part of your case information as these are very specialized and are often not allowed at four-year schools. My suggestion is that you use Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier as your main search databases. Please contact me ASAP if you have any questions. This is an accelerated class so do not wait until the last minute to complete any work! You will not believe how often I receive emails after 6 pm the day the case is due and into the wee hours of the morning after the case has closed for submission on Canvas. I will not be answering email during a late time slot from 4:30 pm until 8 or 9 when I log on again the next morning! If something happens, please email the case to me immediately so that you get the fewest late point assessed to your case study grade. The assignment “window” of submission closes in Canvas at midnight the day the case is due. However, this submission would be your “final” draft!
