InstructionYou will be provided with 3 Case Studies. Each Case provides basic info about the individual and a provisional diagnosis. For each case, you will provide an explanation of how you believe the diagnosis identified in the case was determined based on how criteria for the diagnosis was met and other diagnosis were ruled out by utilizing the differential diagnosis process in the Handbook of Differential Diagnosis (on the DSM Database). If you happen to disagree with the diagnosis or believe there are additional diagnosis, you can identify this diagnosis as well and demonstrate why and how you came to that conclusion. The Handbook of Differential Diagnosis provides instructions on three different ways to implement differential diagnosing. You must complete all three methods- one approach per case. There is an introduction section at the beginning of each chapter to explain how to utilize the specific method in each chapter that you are strongly encouraged to read and refer to as appropriate. The length of each section will vary but overall, each case study section will be minimum of 2-3 pages, and minimum of about 1900 words (using my sample as a guide). Please do not go over total of 8-10 pages for all three cases. References should be identified in a separate reference page at the end as well as in text citation. Information from the DSM, the Clinical Cases or other sources may be utilized to support your diagnosis in addition to the Handbook of Differential Diagnosis. This is NOT a research paper. This is simply meant to show how you used the methods to rule in/rule out criteria in the case presented. See the end of this document for a case study with an example of how to complete each of these assignments. It is not ideal but should give you a good guide. It is simply a quick representation of the basics of how to complete the assignment. I expect yours to be a bit more extensive, particularly if you are disagreeing with the provisional diagnosis or identifying an alternative or additional diagnosis. Please break the paper into sections clearly so you demonstrate your understanding of the process, and the paper is clearly organized. Case 1 should be completed using the Step-by-Step approach in Chapter1. Chapter 1. Differential Diagnosis Step by Step Case 2 should be completed using the Trees in Chapter 2. Chapter 2. Differential Diagnosis by the Trees Case 3 should be completed using the Tables in Chapter 3. Chapter 3. Differential Diagnosis by the Tables
