  • Amazon would need a place with lots of open land to build a global headquarters. Their idea to build one campus in Seattle makes a lot of sense, I would say another place could be New Jersey. The reason I would pick this as a location is because they would have plenty of land to build out or up to maintain a large campus as a global headquarters. Also, since their first location is in Seattle, this helps put another location in the US but on the East coast. This would give easy access to Canada and not too long of a flight to Mexico. This also gives quick access to major cities like New York, Philadelphia and Boston. Since their recent acquisition of Whole Foods they would also be able to build a portion of their campus for Whole Foods. While Amazon is such a large and quickly growing company, they would be able to offshore some of their work to Canada and Mexico.

  • They would also be able to outsource some work such as running their call centers to maintain the number of customer interactions they have. This would also be helpful because you can then also incorporate Mexico and Canada into what Amazon has to offer. A huge thing that would help Amazon is to see if New Jersey offers a tax break by building a headquarters in this state. Choosing a place in New Jersey would give you access to major universities such as Rutgers University. Also, you would be within 45 minutes to both Philadelphia, Newark and JFK airport. Amazon would also need to guarantee the space for the numerous amount of employees they would eventually grow into. To build a global headquarters in New Jersey, would help the company strive and also help open many jobs in the market.
