we have reviewed the different types and processes of managing innovation and/or entrepreneurship; but the effective success of new innovations and ventures depends on policies. For our final exam, you need to discuss business and government policies to encourage ventures.
1. INNOVATION. From our review notes of Clay Christensen or Vijay Govindarajan (VG), briefly explain two (2) kinds of policies to foster more new products or processes in existing organizations. Use examples (P&G, 3M, GE, Microsoft, Sony, IBM, etc.) to explain HOW and WHY some companies are consistently more innovative and successful than others.
2. ENTREPRENEURSHIP. In some situations, new startup companies can be more successful at innovations (incremental or disruptive) than existing companies; but how can more new startup company ventures be encouraged or created, if there are many competitive forces and risks? Meyer and Crane’s book reviews several marketing and financial plans for entrepreneurs to design successful new ventures, but how can such ventures be increased? Using examples from a specific industry (pharmaceuticals, food, energy, services) or else country (U.S., Isreal, China, or Saudi Arabia), briefly review two (2) government (legal) or financial policies that could be changed to encourage more new ventures by entrepreneurs?
