Why do you think people study history
? (Don’t be trite here – it’s much more than “to learn from their mistakes”). Consider why you are required to study history to earn an AA degree. Do you think the study of history helps you to be a better citizen or contribute to society? If so, how so? If not, why not?
To help you formulate an answer, consider the arguments made by Steven Kreis at the History Guide: Why Study History? When you are clear on what you want to say, compose a post that introduces you to the class as it answers the questions above.
Objectives:
•Describe the major course requirements and expectations found the course syllabus and schedule.
•Successfully navigate to desired course components.
•Describe the scope of history covered in the course content.
•Introduce yourself to peers and instructor in introductory discussion.
A quality post is somewhere between 150 and 200 words
Posting Requirements
•Be specific and provide evidence.
•Cite all sources of information (whether the textbook or a web site).
•No cutting and pasting from other sites or the textbook.
•No ad hominem arguments.
•No disruptive communication.
•No use of discussions as a personal, political or religious/cultural platform.
