Performance management is a continuous process that involves setting goals and behaviors while observing an employee’s performance. Within this process, a supervisor may offer coaching and feedback. To align with the organization’s goals, the appraisal process is one method of providing a direct link between the individual performance and the organizational goals.
Consider the following case study:

It was filled out by Al Brown, the owner of CRB, Inc., because he has been told he should give all of his employees an appraisal of their performance. This particular form was given to the foreman, Robert (Bob) Jared, to complete the employee comments. Al then filled in the supervisor comments sections.
