Option 1: The Healer Role The sick role comprises four aspects: (1) exemption from normal social role responsibilities, (2) the privilege of not being held responsible for being sick, (3) the desire to get better and (4) the obligation to find proper help and follow that advice. Parsons makes no mention of the role of the doctor or other medical personnel. If you were to describe the role of the doctor, nurse, therapist, etc. What components would you include? Be sure to consider appropriate sociological vocabulary, the social structure, and other concepts we have discussed in your answer. Write a 1 – 2 page paper to delineate your adaptation of this theory. Option 2: Design a Game You have played some of the Quia games on the homework pages of the course. Now you can try out building a Quia activity. Log onto Quia by clicking on the link (www.quia.com). You will enter the Quia Web using the username jenniferfauchier and the password student. Click on the tab that says "Activities" or "Quizzes". There are a number of possible activities you can create -- hangman, matching, columns, cloze (fill in the blank), jumbled word, etc. Create a game or a review activity related to Module 5. Do not just repeat the word matching activity I have entered in the Review section of this course. When you decide on an activity, the directions on the activity will walk you through the procedure for entering the information. Be sure that your activity has at least 15 - 20 items/questions/terms. If you enter Hangman or Jumbled Word activities, be sure to include clues. Because the account is in my name, it will say that Jenni Fauchier created the activity. Please put your name in the title of your activity, i.e., Bob’s (Jones) Chapter 5 hangman. When you save your activity, it will give it a URL. Post the URL in a short word document in the Assignment section for this module for me to enter your score and post the URL in a Discussion entry so that your classmates can play your game or review with your activity. (This discussion activity does not count as your discussion entry for the week; it is part of the assignment.)
