For your final special education project, you will choose one of the Texas Education Agency Due Process Hearing Decisions.
The following components of the paper must be addressed in APA format and attached in this discussion board area for grading:
Part One: Summary of the Due Process Hearing officer's decision.
Part Two: Which of the six major tenets of IDEA 2004 did the case represent and it can be more than one of these items (Least Restrictive Envrionment (LRE), Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), Zero Reject, Due Process Rights, Non-Discriminatory Testing, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The due process hearing may contain more than one of these elements discuss each one and how it applies to the case.
Part Three: Based on the results of the Due Process Hearing, what are the implications for the school district in the future? Do they have to change practices or programming because of the decision?
Part Four: The final section is related to your professional feelings about reviewing the case and do you disagree or agree with the Due Process hearing officer's decision.
You will review the due process hearing findings and develop a final written paper using the APA format.

Note: In Part Four of the paper, you may write in first person and not adhere to APA style as required in the previous sections.
